From Limping to Leaping
It was the summer of 2026. Muna peered out her window and noticed she had visitors approaching. As a Muslim woman living with her twin daughters in the Levant, Muna was always prepared to host guests. She limped to heat some water for coffee. As she did, Muna again wished she could walk without struggle, and even more than that, dance. She loved to dance. But for the past four years, she had suffered from an injury to her right foot that hadn’t properly healed. Her ankle wouldn’t move at all. There was no reason to believe it ever would again. Muna again silently let go of her wish.
As Muna welcomed the visitors, she had no inkling that this day would change her life. She had the women come in and sit with her daughters, and offered them coffee and snacks. However, Kate, a missionary from the Levant Missions Base, and the other woman, who was part of the local outreach ministry, were there not to just have coffee, but to pray for Muna.
“I just [asked] ‘can we pray?’,” said Kate. “And she said, ‘what? Why me? Pray for my family.’ I said, ‘no, you have an injury.’” So Muna concurred. “I said, ‘I'm going to only pray in the name of Jesus,’” said Kate. “So I prayed for her. I put my hand on her foot, and immediately my hand got hot. I'm not the type of person who experiences that, and I don't say I experience that a lot. I felt like, oh my gosh, God [wants] to heal her.”
In shock, Muna’s eyes widened as she felt the heat from Kate’s hand surge through her foot. Her severe pain suddenly dropped to a dull ache. On a scale of 1-10, it had gone from a 10 to a 2! Muna pointed at Kate and said, “It’s you!” But Kate replied, “No, this is Jesus only!”
Muna could feel her heart beating with the hope of dancing again. Then, Kate asked if she could pray for the pain to go from a 2 to a zero. “Yes, yes, yes, yes!,” said Muna. Kate prayed in the name of Jesus again, and the pain left completely. “It’s zero!” said Muna, in pure elation. She leapt up, grabbing the hands of her twin daughters, and began to dance.
“This is Jesus, he's the healer,” said Kate. “And the Father wants to reveal to you the work of Jesus.” Kate encouraged Muna to worship Jesus, and Muna, filled with joy and still dancing, began to worship Jesus with her dance. After four long years, she was finally free.
Later that week, Muna was invited to a local Bible study to share her healing testimony. She gave all of the credit to Jesus for healing her. Muna also brought the special shoes she wore for four years. She no longer needed them. Today, she is taking weekly dance classes and still experiences freedom from pain. Through the healing power of the Holy Spirit, Muna went from limping to leaping and from hope deferred to a wish fulfilled!
