A Song Across the Earth
“This is what it is all unto,” thought Gerald to himself.
The screen in front of him lit up with faces from multiple continents. “This is how we know we are doing our jobs. This is something I have read and sung and prayed to the Lord for, for years.”
It was 2024. Gerald, a pastor in the Midwest, was gathered on a Zoom call with believers in seven different nations across the earth. For the first time, these seven nations were joining in worship and prayer together with one voice and one accord…for 50 hours. As Gerald joined the call, and listened to testimonies from each location, a realization dawned on him. This was it. This was the prophecy of Malachi 1:11 unfolding before his eyes. In that passage of scripture, the Lord said, “My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place, incense and pure offerings will be brought to me...”
“That one moment ignited my heart in a powerful way,” said Gerald. “There were representatives on the call from Richmond, where the sun was going down, all the way to the Himalayas, where the sun was rising.”
Gerald, who rededicated his life to the Lord at the age of 20, had grown up in the Midwestern United States. He and his wife stepped into young adult ministry together in their early 20’s. They went on to follow the Lord and share the gospel in the Middle East, Africa and South America. Later, they also began a fledgling ministry in the Midwest that met in coffee shops once a month and in Bible studies in their home once a week. The Lord had put this ministry on Gerald’s heart while he was visiting the Holy Land. The name he chose for the ministry reflected the Garden of Eden, where there was no separating veil between God and His people.
“The Garden of Eden expresses everything He wanted,” said Gerald, in reference to the Lord’s desire to walk daily with His people. “And the New Jerusalem is the other part of the name. It is coming into agreement for what he wanted for the Garden of Eden and what will be realized in the New Jerusalem.” The fledgling ministry later blossomed into Garden City Church. Since 2019, more than 15 people from Gerald’s church have gone through the MAPS Global School and are serving the Lord as missionaries and ministers.
Now, in the current day, Gerald can look back over the years of studying the Word, praying and singing that the name of Jesus would be lifted high in the nations, and that the hearts of the nations would be reconciled to the Lord, and say it is really happening. In this current year, 2026, seven nations are once again going to lift up one song to the Lord!
“It is one thing to pray for God to do something, but another to pray for him to increase what he is already starting to do,” said Gerald. “I have never been more convinced that the Lord is desiring our agreement, and he is intent on using our agreement as a vehicle to accomplish his intent and purpose in the earth.”
